Before you begin
- Sign in. Reminders on your own schedules require Pro. Accepted shared schedules use the owner’s Pro access, so collaborators do not need their own Pro plan.
- Use a browser with Notifications and Web Push support, or the native Android app for schedules you own.
Set up reminders on this browser or device
Open the schedule in the Builder and choose Settings > Reminders. On mobile, find Settings in Schedule tools. For a shared schedule, you can use the header’s Reminders shortcut, including with view-only access.
Choose Enable on this device in a browser, or Enable Android reminders in the native app. Allow notifications and wait for the enabled confirmation. Permission alone does not complete browser setup.
Enable the current browser here, then choose separate defaults for event and task reminders. Under Default reminders, choose when Events should remind you relative to their start time. For schedules you own, choose a separate Tasks default relative to the deadline time.
Enable each additional browser profile or Android device separately. Signing in on another device does not enable its notifications, even when reminder preferences are already saved.
Off stops items that use that default; it does not turn off explicit event or task reminders. To silence only this device, disable ScheduleBuilder notifications in its browser or Android settings.
Customize an event reminder
If you own the schedule or have shared-schedule editor access, open a local timed event and select the bell beside its time fields. Choose an option below, then select Save changes.
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Use schedule default | Follows Events. On a shared schedule, this is your personal default, not the owner’s. |
| No reminder for this event | Turns off this event’s reminder, regardless of the default. |
| At start time, or 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes before | Sets an explicit reminder that does not follow later default changes. |
| At a specific time | Enter Notification time within 60 minutes before or after the start, including across midnight. |
Choose Use schedule default to remove an override. All-day events are skipped. Events from automatic calendar sync are read-only and do not offer this reminder editor.
Customize a task reminder
Task reminders require a schedule you own, your own Pro access, and completed device setup. A deadline alone does not enable a reminder.
Open the task, set Deadline time, and select the bell beside it.
Choose Use schedule default, Off, At deadline, or 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes before.
Select Save task.
Use schedule default follows Tasks, not Events. In Settings, the zero-minute task default is called At due time. Tasks do not offer At a specific time.
Archived tasks, completed one-off tasks, and tasks without a deadline or enabled reminder are skipped. Weekly tasks skip reminders for dates marked completed; uncompleted weeks can still receive them.
Choose the week and reminder time zone
In Settings > Dates, turn on Show dates to see Displayed week. For browser reminders, Active week repeats on the chosen weekdays; Choose a week restricts reminders to the selected week. Hiding date headers does not clear a selected-week restriction.
In Settings > Reminders, Reminder time zone defaults to Each device’s local time. Choose a named zone to use the same schedule clock on every receiving device. Events and tasks share this setting; tasks have no separate time-zone control.
Browser, Android, and shared-schedule reference
| Where you use ScheduleBuilder | What is supported |
|---|---|
| Browser, your own schedule | Timed event and private task reminders after your changes sync. Requires Pro and setup in each receiving browser profile. |
| Browser, accepted shared schedule | Personal event reminders for viewers and editors while the owner has Pro. Requires your opt-in and browser setup; excludes owner-private tasks. |
| Native Android app | Local reminders for schedules you own with signed-in Pro access. Shared reminders require a browser, not native or offline setup. |
Shared-schedule reminders use your personal choices, not the owner’s. Viewers can set defaults and time zones; event-specific choices require editor access.
- Android refresh: open each owned schedule whose tasks need reminders and let them load. Reopen or resume the Builder after changes on another device. Saved native reminders expire after 35 days without an update.
- Android limit: native reminder setup supports up to 25 owned schedules. If your account has more, use browser reminders and contact support; the larger Pro account limit does not increase the native reminder limit.
- Stopping shared reminders: Turn off reminders for me stops your reminders for that shared schedule across receiving browsers. It does not change anyone else’s reminders.
Setup is blocked, unsupported, or cancelled
- Browser permission blocked: allow notifications for ScheduleBuilder in the browser’s site settings and check operating-system notification permissions, then retry setup.
- Android permission blocked: use Open Android settings or Manage Android notifications, allow notifications for ScheduleBuilder, then return to the app.
- Notifications unsupported: use a browser with Web Push support. Native Android reminders and browser Push are separate; shared reminders need a supported browser.
- Setup unavailable: close Settings, reopen it, and try again. An enabled notification permission by itself is not proof that reminder setup succeeded.
- Setup cancelled: no reminder settings changed. Retry when you are ready to approve the permission request.
The browser reports a Push service error
- Check the browser’s privacy, Push or cloud-messaging, background-app, and notification settings.
- Check your connection and operating-system notification settings, then retry Enable on this device. For a previously enabled browser, choose Refresh connection.
- If you need notifications after all browser windows close, allow background apps where the browser offers that option. Delivery still depends on browser and operating-system support.
This error means the browser could not finish Push setup; allowing website notifications alone may not resolve it.
Notifications are enabled, but no reminder arrives
- Reminder choice: an item using the default needs Events or Tasks set to something other than Off. A task also needs Deadline time.
- Skipped items: all-day events, archived tasks, completed one-off tasks, and completed weekly occurrence dates do not receive reminders.
- Browser: reconnect and let schedule and task changes sync. Unsynced local edits do not update reminders. Try Refresh connection if this browser was previously enabled.
- Android: open the owned schedule and let its tasks load. Resume the Builder after remote changes or a long absence, and check the 25-schedule limit above.
- Access and permissions: check notification permission, focus or do-not-disturb modes, and battery restrictions. Confirm your Pro access—or, for shared reminders, active membership and the owner’s Pro access.
A reminder arrives at an unexpected time or repeats
- Check Reminder time zone and, for browser Push, Displayed week. Without a selected-week restriction, reminders follow weekday occurrences rather than a separate calendar due date.
- Inspect the item’s explicit lead time or notification time. Changing a default does not replace an item override; choose Use schedule default if you want the item to follow it.
- After moving to another time zone, use Refresh connection in the browser or reopen the Android Builder to refresh the device zone. A named reminder time zone stays fixed.
- Each enabled browser profile or device can receive its own notification. To silence only one, change its notification permission or settings instead of the schedule default.
